The category system here is rather chaotic, and I did some cleanup pre-adoption, but we should discuss how it should work before we go any further.
There are 2 main schools of thought when it comes to categories:
Add general categories to all articles.
Under this method, "Category:Characters" gets added to all character articles.
The benefit of this method is that it is easy to get a list of all characters.
The "read more" section at the bottom of the page randomly shows ALL characters articles, not just characters from the same fan fiction.
The category tree contains many duplicates.
Add only the most specific categories.
With this method, "Category:Characters" is a "parent category".
No pages are listed under "Category:Characters".
Pages are placed in "Category:Characters in Saints Row 2", which is a subcategory of "Category:Characters".
The benefit of this method is that you immediately know more information about an article just from the category, and it is easy to get a list of relevant related articles.
The "read more" section at the bottom of the page randomly shows only related characters.
The category tree contains minimal duplicates.
I personally think that the tag system is disorganised, and that the more organised Tree system is better.
This is what the category tree currently looks like:
Edit: Go to Category:Browse to see the tree, category trees apparently do not work in threads.
